Here is your first look at Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper‘s new action thriller, American Hustle which also stars Amy Adams, Robert De Niro, Jennifer Lawrence, Jeremy Renner and many more.
The film is getting quite a buzz and promises to be a must see at the theater, since director David O. Russell is at the helm of another possible Oscar worthy film. He is the golden boy of Hollywood these days for directors, especially since he is the man behind the commercially and critically successful two blockbuster feature films you may recall – The Fighter (2010) and Silver Linings Playbook (2012).
With that said Russell has afforded the American auteur the luxury of being able to tackle more of his passion projects. And the latest of those is American Hustle, a fictionalized account of the famous 1970s ABSCAM sting operation that successfully uncovered government corruption and resulted in several convictions of U.S. Congressmen.
Though we hadn’t heard or seen much from the film until now, excitement has been slowly building among fans of his previous work, especially after casting announcements revealed that many of Russell’s past collaborators would be returning, including Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence and Robert De Niro.
Here is the synopsis for American Hustle:
A fictional film set in the seductive world of one of the most stunning scandals to rock our nation, American Hustle tells the story of brilliant con man Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale), who along with his equally cunning British partner and lover Sydney Prosser (‘Amy Adams (X)’ ) is forced to work for a wild unhinged FBI agent Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper).
DiMaso pushes them into a world of Jersey power brokers and mafia that’s as dangerous as it is enchanting. Renner is Carmen Polito, the passionate, volatile, New Jersey political operator caught between the con-artists and Feds. Irving’s unpredictable wife Rosalyn (Jennifer Lawrence) could be the one to pull the thread that brings the entire world crashing down.
