The star of the Togetherness HBO series,who is a mom herself, has been quoted as saying, “Frankly, I feel that parents who don’t vaccinate their children are parasites.” In Cookie Magazine.
Amand Peet told The Hollywood Reporter Tuesday that “More and more parents are outraged that we, in one of the most privileged areas of the most privileged nation on the planet, brought this upon ourselves.” Peet, who is the mother of three children, also found fault with the doctors who support a parent’s choice not to vaccinate their children.

“Most of the non-vaccinating parents I know of go to the same couple of pediatricians. If, as a pediatrician, you keep insisting that these diseases are rare, and you persist in spreading the message that the measles outbreak is a case of media hysteria, that’s tantamount to encouraging people not to vaccinate,” Peet said.
Since last December there has been at least 117 measles out breaks that were reported in California. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, this recent outbreak in California is just a part of the entire measles outbreak which has affected seven states. The measles outbreak has been linked to the Disneyland theme park near Los Angeles.
Peet and her family live in Los Angeles Westside, where immunization rates are extremely low. “I can’t tell you how many people have said to me, ‘But these diseases are so rare.’ Of course they’re rare — vaccines made them so!” Peet told The Hollywood Reporter.
