CelebnMusic247.com has learned that the new Aaliyah book published under Simon & Schuster/Atria Books, titled “Baby Girl: Better Known As Aaliyah” will be released Aug. 17, 2021.

What we’ve learned about “Baby Girl: Better Known As Aaliyah”:

  • The book will be penned by journalist and author Kathy Iandoli.
  • It will come out a week before the 20th anniversary of her death.

According to the press release the book:

  • Will take a “deep dive into her tumultuously abusive entanglement with R. Kelly and an intense investigation on the crash that ended her life.”
  • It will also “focus on the span of Aaliyah’s life and career — from her earliest beginnings singing in Detroit all the way through to her game-changing musical era with Timbaland, Missy Elliott, and the late Static Major.”

Iandoli says:

I wrote this book as an Aaliyah fan. This is for all of us who for the last twenty years can spot her influence everywhere while wishing she was still here. I left no stone unturned, and I hope I’ve added to her legacy properly.

Aaliyah is best known for her music and how she redefine contemporary R&B, pop and hip hop, earning her the nicknames the “Princess of R&B” and “Queen of Urban Pop.” At one point in music, Aaliyah was everything and fans couldn’t wait for music by her.

The Brooklyn born beauty was a fashionista way before Rihanna, she made the Tomboy – a boyish and feminine trend.

At the age of 12, Aaliyah signed with Jive Records and her uncle Barry Hankerson’s Blackground Records. Hankerson introduced her to R. Kelly, who became her mentor, as well as lead songwriter and producer of her debut album, Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number. The album sold three million copies in the United States and was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Kelly and Aaliyah looked to be in love with each other in front of the camera, but Kelly faced allegations of an illegal marriage with Kelly, Aaliyah ended her contract with Jive and signed with Atlantic Records.

Inside info On Aaliyah Death:

To this day it has been whispered among insiders inside her camp that the only reason Aaliyah died due to her uncle Barry Hankerson, who decided to change up her single release. Instead of releasing the scheduled “More Than A Woman” video, her uncle wanted to change it to “Rock The Boat” which was filmed in the Bahamas. The other issue is after the video wrapped Aaliyah wanted to get back to Florida to attend Da Brat’s party and see her boyfriend Damon Dash. It was an unauthorized flight and an overloaded jet filled with too much luggage and people which caused them to crash. Killing Aaliyah and her glam squad. Aaliyah took an emergency weekend off from filming the Matrix and Queen of the Dammed to fulfill her uncle’s demands which she gave up her life for.
