Anthony Bourdain BLASTS U.S. Travel Ban on Nigella Lawson
The Taste judge, Nigella Lawson was reportedly prevented from boarding a flight to the US, after admitting to drug use in a trial against two former aides last year.
CelebNMusic247.com has learned that Celebrity Chef and The Taste judge was due to fly from Heathrow to Los Angeles on Sunday (March 30), but was stopped at the boarding gate.
It was reported that Lawson had registered online for permission to travel to the US beforehand, confirming that she has never been arrested or convicted of drug-related offences. However, US authorities are thought to have banned the airliner from allowing Lawson to travel to the country, as they can choose to bar certain visitors on drug offences, even if they have not been arrested or charged.
In January, the Metropolitan Police stated that Lawson would face no action over her past drug use.
Although representatives for Lawson have made no comment on the claims fellow Celebrity Chef and The Taste co-judge Anthony Bourdain is lashing out at the U.S. travel ban.
Anthony Bourdain, who has judged contestants on ABC’s prime-time cooking show The Taste alongside Lawson for two seasons and is famous for his salty commentary, is now sounding off the U.S. decision in a Twitter tirade as an embassy official reportedly offered to help.
Lawson’s UK publicist told the Daily News Thursday:
“We are not commenting on the story, but thanks for being in touch.”
Bourdain, 57, tweeted Thursday morning:
I am absolutely mortified with embarrassment over the cruelty and hypocrisy of US actions re: #Nigella travel. Unbelievable.

He added, referring to Mayor Ford’s recent trip to the Oscars after his acknowledged use of crack cocaine:
Toronto mayor, Rob Ford? Welcome to the USA. Nigella Lawson? No. REALLY? Absolutely appalling misuse of our system. And by whom? How?
