Divergent Makes Mekhi Phifer Cool
Veteran actor Mekhi Phifer has fianally landed himself his first trilogy and he says that the film Divergent has finally made him cool.
Mekhi’s 14-year-old son always kept it low key about his 8 Mile actor dad until now, because Divergent has made Mekhi Phifer cool.
In a recent interview Mekhi Phifer opened up about how the film has made his status golden with his son. CelebNMusic247.com has learned that Phifer wasn’t familiar with the young adult novels that provide the basis for the movie when he read the script, but his son had.
Mekhi reflects on that day his sons eye lit up, telling the Today show:
“(He) was really excited.”
“It was the first thing he’s ever been excited about in my career ever! … Now I’m cool, finally.”
When speaking of the “Divergent” pre-ticket sales are outpacing even the “Twilight” series,” he adds:
“(Author) Veronica Roth did such a wonderful job putting these books together, and the adaptations that they did for the screenplay are just wonderful.”
“I’ve been going on a multi-city tour for this film, and so many people are saying that they like it even more than the books.”
He grinned.

Divergent opens in theaters on March 21.
