Lupita Nyong’o Up For Mystery Role in Star Wars Episode 7

12 Years A Slave and Non-Stop star and Oscar winning actress Lupita Nyong’o is said to be close to inking a deal with Star Wars: Episode VII.

In the Fall of 2014, Disney and Lucasfilm have joined forces to launch a new era in the Star Wars universe which began with Disney XD cartoon series Star Wars Rebels. The animated series with be followed by Episode VII in December 2015.

CelebNMusic247.com has reported that Star Trek director J.J. Abrams will be at the healm for the first of three live-action Star Wars installments. The script has been drafted by Abrams and Empire Strikes Back/Return of the Jedi co-writer Lawrence Kasdan. All of 2013 was filled with endless casting rumors for Episode VII, but of late we’ve been getting some real, solid updates on who is up for the lead roles. So far Attack on The Block starJohn Boyega is one of 5 young men up for the lead Jedi role to fight evil. While Adam Driver (known best for his work on HBO’s Girls) was revealed to be all but officially-set to play the film’s central antagonist.

Now, CelebNMusic247.com has learned that Lupita Nyong’o has been reading for this past month. The news has fuelled the fire that Nyong’o is“extremely close” to signing a deal to portray the mystery character in Abrams’ Star Wars movie.

While THR is confirming that Nyong’o did, in fact, meet with Abrams for a lead role in Episode VII. CelebNMusic247.com has also learned that Lupita is NO longer up for the lead female role, but instea is possible set to play another key role altogether (possibly, a Jedi).

We have been keeping count and so far it is sounding like there may be three female main character, including the 20-something lead, the role Nyong’o is in the running for, and Carrie Fisher returning as the elder Leia. This could be exactly what the Star Wars franchise need for the live-action Star Wars cinematic-verse, which has a bad habit of under-representing its women.

One thing we also know about the new installments of the Star Wars is set to diversify the cast (in terms of both race and gender) which is said to be coming from the executives behind Episode VII.

Could the Non-Stop actress be up for the role of a sith or a Jedi?

That is still the question…

Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled to open in theaters on December 18th, 2015.
