During the Floyd Mayweather and Canelo Alvarez fight a FOX Sports commentator Chael Sonnen decided to make a very offensive joke about Chris Brown and Rihanna as he sat on the panel to discuss the Mayweather fight.
Despite Floyd Mayweather being BLASTED by his baby mama, Josie Harris since his on and off again girlfriend Shantel Jackson is back in the picture another incident took place . And no, it has nothing to do with Floyd Mayweather Jr. showing off his $41 million check from the Canelo Fight.
This is about FOX Sports and how one reporter screwed up and caused FOX Sports lots of backlash after Chael Sonnen decided to make a very offensive joke about Chris Brown and Rihanna as he sat on the panel to discuss the Mayweather fight.
Chael Sonnen said:
“Look, Floyd needs to keep doing what he’s doing, which is fighting complete tomato cans that we’ve never heard of before. I’ve never seen anybody in the history of America get so rich and so famous off of having complete wimps throwing a punch at their faces. I know what you’re saying. You’re saying, ‘Well, it’s happened before, what about Rihanna?’
“Too soon? Was it too soon?”
It didn’t take too long for FOX Sports to get slammed for the tasteless joke and the network eventually released an official apology over Sonnen’s remarks:
FOX Sports regrets the comments Chael Sonnen made during last night’s edition of FOX Sports Live. They were an inappropriate attempt at humor that Sonnen acknowledges shouldn’t have been made and he apologizes to anyone who may have been offended by his remarks.
