X-Men 7

Whether it’s X-Men 7 or New Mutants, Professor Xavier’s gifted young folks will enter the ’90s for X-Men 7, CelebNMovies247.com has learned.

In an interview with ComingSoon [via DOG], X-Men:

Apocalypse executive producer and screenwriter, Simon Kinberg, confirmed the next installment of the franchise will be set in the ‘90s, though it was unclear whether he was referring to X-Men 7 or the New Mutants film.

The X-Men prequel trilogy has already been set in different eras, starting with 1962 and the Cuban Missile Crisis being the backdrop in X-Men: First Class, then 1973 (and the future) in X-Men: Days of Future Past, and it will enter the ‘80s in X-Men: Apocalypse. Bringing the X-Men into the ‘90s could potentially make for some fun easter eggs for fans (like myself) who grew with the X-Men animated series and Jim Lee’s refreshed artwork on the comic series that helped drive record sales during that time period.

While Fox have yet to set a date on the calendar for X-Men 7, it’s likely New Mutants hits theaters in July 2018. Last month, writer/director Josh Boone turned in a script for New Mutants. Previous reports claim an X-Men film could begin shooting in Canada in early 2017, though we’re not entirely sure which film.

What do you think of X-Men being in the 90s? We think it will be very cool since a younger generations of the X-men were seen in the animated cartoons called New X-Men which featured Jubalee, Cyclops, Jean Grey, night crawler and more.

We will keep you posted as we hear more on the X-Men franchise as we have it…
