Could Bill Denbrough be heading back to Derry?

Season 1 took viewers back to 1962, while Season 2 is expected to move even further into the past—to 1935 and the era of the Bradley Gang.
So how exactly does a modern-day Bill Denbrough fit into a story set decades before he was born?
That’s where the show’s supernatural storytelling could get VERY creative.
Welcome to Derry Has Already Connected the Movies
Season 1 proved that the series isn’t afraid to create direct connections between its characters and the IT movies.
One particularly chilling revelation connected Marge to Richie Tozier’s future, showing that the past, present and future of Derry are far more intertwined than viewers initially realized.
The finale also provided another haunting connection involving Beverly Marsh, helping expand the mythology surrounding events seen in IT Chapter Two.

Imagine him researching an old Derry story for a novel or screenplay—without initially realizing he’s digging into the same supernatural darkness that terrorized him as a child.
That could allow McAvoy to return without disrupting the 1935 storyline.
Another possibility?
Season 2 could reveal that someone connected to Bill’s family was involved in Derry’s earlier history.
Considering how Welcome to Derry has already played with family connections across generations, it wouldn’t be impossible.
And then there’s Pennywise.
When you’re dealing with an ancient supernatural entity that manipulates memories, fear and perception, traditional timelines don’t necessarily have to play by normal rules.
Could More Losers Club Members Return?
McAvoy’s comments also raise an even bigger question.

Imagine adult Bill researching the Bradley Gang, slowly realizing there are pieces of Derry’s history that feel strangely familiar.
Then something happens.
A photograph.
A name.
A red balloon.
And suddenly, memories Bill thought were buried forever begin creeping back.
Now THAT would be a way to bring him home to Derry.
McAvoy has made one thing clear: he’s open to returning if there’s a great story waiting for Bill.
So the question isn’t necessarily whether James McAvoy wants to return.
It’s whether the writers can give him a reason to.
