(CelebNMusic247-News) Trance Red Band Trailer

Danny Boyle secured the rank of Oscar-winner for Slumdog Millionaire four years ago, but back in the 1990s he applied his music video style filmmaking techniques to making gnarly and nightmarish drama-thrillers like Shallow GraveTrainspotting and The Beach. His latest directing project, Trance, is a calling back to his days of telling sordid tales about residents from the underbelly of London society.

The general audiences-approved trailer does a reasonable job of laying out the story, without divulging too much information about its twists and turns. However, the new red-band preview better illustrates what separates Boyle’s movie and your average crime-gone-wrong picture: a good chunk of the action takes place inside the dark and fractured recesses of our protagonist’s mind (James McAvoy).

McAvoy (of AtonementWanted and X-Men: First Class fame) stars as Simon, a fine art auctioneer-turned robbery abettor –  who agrees to be hypnotized after he forgets the hiding spot of a stolen painting. That allows Boyle to conjure up rather twisted and disturbing imagery within Simon’s mind, as a hypnotherapist (Rosario Dawson) guides him through the tangled mess of memories and fantasies. – Yahoo

Trance stars; James McAvoy, Rosario Dawson, Vincent Cassel, Tuppence Middleton, Danny Sapani and more…

The trailer is extremely graphic as it is the red band trailer suggested for viewers 17+ only.

Here is the synopsis:

Simon (James McAvoy), a fine art auctioneer, teams up with a criminal gang to steal a Goya painting worth millions of dollars, but after suffering a blow to the head during the heist he awakens to discover he has no memory of where he hid the painting.

When physical threats and torture fail to produce answers, the gang’s leader Frank (Vincent Cassel) hires hypnotherapist Elizabeth Lamb (Rosario Dawson) to delve into the darkest recesses of Simon’s psyche. As Elizabeth begins to unravel Simon’s broken subconscious, the lines between truth, suggestion, and deceit begin to blur.
