After a lengthy plea of his innocence Yasiin Bey, aka Mos Def charged with breaking South Africa’s immigration law!!!
CelebNMusic247.com has the breaking scoop on the flip…

Can you believe, Mos Def Charged For Breaking South Africa’s Immigration Law?
Last week, Mos Def, who changed his name a few years back to Yasiin Bey was arrested for a “fraudulent” passport. Bey claims he did NOT break the law and that there was some kind of conspiracy out to get him.
He also weighed in on the situation being leaked to the media to make money on his personal troubles since he had moved to South Africa. The MC/actor/activist also announced that he had retired from the music industry and Hollywood effective immediately as he no longer wanted anything to do with any of the people in entertainment.
Bey also referenced Kanye West’s “No More Parties in L.A.” and “Real Friends,” which could be heard HERE.
Now, a day later, American rapper Yasiin Bey, who formerly went by Mos Def will appear in court for breaking South Africa’s immigration laws after being arrested for using a “world passport.”
Could this be all because of his name change to Yasiin Bey?
Mos Def did legally change his professional name to Yasiin Bey back in 2011. In 2012, Def, born Dante Terrell Smith Bey, spoke on why he changed his name.
Def, now Bey said to GQ:
“I began to fear that Mos Def was being treated as a product, not a person, so I’ve been going by Yasiin since ’99. At first it was just for friends and family, but now I’m declaring it openly.”
It was reported that Bey, or as South Africa knows him Mos Def had been living in Cape Town since May, 2013 with his family on a tourist visa.
Could that be the real issue?
On Wednesday, Home Affairs Director General Mkuseli Apleni said the performer was charged with using a false identity, using an unrecognized travel document and helping his family stay in the country illegally.
Unlike America, Def is now being Charged For Breaking South Africa’s Immigration Law!
Apleni said Mos Def, also known as Yasiin Bey, is out on bail and must appear in court on March 8. The rapper’s family, whose visas expired in 2014, must leave South Africa by Jan. 29.
