Earlier in June, rapper Talib Kweli was accused of sexual harassment by his former collaborator Res. Now, he is speaking out against the sexual harassment claims that have been dropped in court!
According to reports, the two artists previously worked together as the duo Idle Worship, and Res was featured on several of Kweli’s solo tracks. Continue on…
Res took to social media to BLAST Talib Kweli Tweeting that he is holding her music hostage CelebNMusic247.com reports.
At the time Res put Talib Kweli on BLAST tweeting:
So instead of being a man you hold my music hostage really this how you do I raised that money on my campaign for my music and you went after it what more do you want @TalibKweli
Res, whose real name is Shareese Ballard continued to state, “I tried to be humble but you letting a kiss that you didn’t get @TalibKweli keep my career on hold and I dare you to say I’m not telling the truth you know Gmail http://Mr.Green wasn’t you married then I’ll wait.”
She added:
I want to apologize to my fans I’m so tired of women getting treated like shit in this industry if we not having sex or kissing someone my talent is mine @TalibKweli not yours I understand you broke and you tired and rusty but let me go dude
The singer/songwriter also clarified that she is the writer of the song in question.
The song that I wrote, that featured his verse was done/mixed and at the time he never asked for money to record it. It was approved by him long before it was released to the small # of people who signed up to my Indiegogo update List.it was not up for sale ever.
She didn’t stop there, Res straight called Talib Kweli out saying:
Open letters don’t mean shit when you have my number…lol. Someone not just falling for the Talib made-up narrative of how the US court system works! I’m looking forward to our court date to determine if a settlement can be foretimes interested in.
Res also states that he made advances on her and she refused to comply, so that was the reason why he is holding her music hostage. She points out how he twisted the truth to his sexual advances on Twitter:
I think everyone can see by the vicious tweets by Talib, not only to me but to anyone who disagrees with him, that he is a pro at creating an uncomfortable environment. He is clearly fighting his ego. I guess I should have been flattered by his advances?
Shortly after Res EXPOSED Talib Kweli on social media, he CLAPPED BACK with a post on Instagram, stating:
I fully and categorically deny any allegation of sexual harassment. Shareese Ballard Aka Res is a liar.
Talib responded to the multiple factors led to the Philly singer’s decision to take their personal business public!
He gave his side of the story with an image of a signed court document claiming that Res “was dropped from my label Javotti Media in 2013 for disrespecting my employees and for failing to turn in an album I invested in.”
Talib Kweli then, said that “I am not holding her music because she never turned any music in. At all. Ever. In early 2014 Res started an Indie Gogo campaign and sent a song featuring my vocals to fans without my permission as a reward.”
He claims:
I asked her to stop using my verse, she refused. So I sued her. Res then countersued saying that I sexually harassed her. I find her claim to be dubious in nature. Bogus.
The rapper added that case was dismissed:
The judge in the case Carolyn E. Wade dismissed Res’ 3 claims against me, including the sexual harassment claim. NYSCEF doc number 37. Res has not accepted this outcome so she is using smear tactics.
He goes on to reveal that Res, “recently, fired her lawyer.” He explains:
Recently, she fired her lawyer in the other case, the one where she profited off of my music without my permission. So now she is trying to use the #metoo movement to bully me into dropping my lawsuit against her.
