The Roots dominated that stage and took no prisoners with a memorable performace that will have everyone saying, “The Roots SLAYED IT at KAABOO!”
The Roots is one of our all time favorite bands from the golden era of hip hop with their socially conscious neo/soul sounds that created a movement. The “Clones” hip hop group took everyone back to the days of Illadelph Halflife, Do You Want More?!!!??!, Phrenology, Rising Down, Game Theory and then a taste of How I Got Over.
It was one of CelebNMusic247247.com favorite moments at KAABOO Del Mar. The Root (Black Thought, Questlove, Kamal Gray, Frank “Knuckles” Walker, Captain Kirk Douglas, Damon “Tuba Gooding Jr.” Bryson, James Poyser and Mark Kelley) had the crowd thirsting for more as the guys went through all their hits. It was BLISS!
Let us help you get a taste of what you missed at KAABOO:
What was one of the main highlights of The Roots performance?
The Roots, best known as the house band on TV’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” these day, clearly relished the opportunity to stretch out at what was only their fourth North American festival date of the summer. Performing on the massive Sunset Cliffs Stage, the band used Kool & The Gang’s 1974 hit, “Jungle Boogie,” as a launch pad for an extended display of instrumental virtuosity that was a highlight of the day.
Our favorite member of The Root, if you haven’t already figured it out is Tariq Luqmaan Trotter aka Black Thought, the lyricist behind the voice of the group.
