Where HGTV’s Canceled Stars Are Now

Part 3 of the 247 HGTV Investigation: the quiet comebacks, the shows in production with no network, and every return date that’s actually confirmed.

The cancellation headlines of 2025 read like an ending. They weren’t. In the year since HGTV’s great clear-out, one “cancelled” show has already returned, one cancelled star is back on the network in a cheaper costume, the biggest cancelled rivalry in the business is still filming, and the busiest couple of the cancelled class is shooting two new shows — for a network nobody has announced. Here is where everyone actually stands, with the dates that are confirmed and the ones that aren’t.

Already back

Battle on the Beach — reported dead in July 2025 — returned for Season 5 on June 1, 2026, with Ty Pennington mentoring alongside new faces Mika Kleinschmidt and Sarah Baeumler. Original mentors Alison Victoria and Taniya Nayak did not return, which is its own lesson in what “not renewed” can mean for the people involved even when a show survives.

Jonathan Knight, whose Farmhouse Fixer ended after a final season that took him 16 months to shoot, is back on HGTV with Crashers — 72-hour renovations, premiered June 8, 2026. Compare the formats and you can see the new economics from Parts 1 and 2 in action: three days instead of sixteen weeks.

And Fixer Upper never really left. Chip and Joanna Gaines’ Magnolia Network is a joint venture between the Gaineses and HGTV’s parent company, and Fixer Upper: Colorado Mountain House — their first project outside Texas — premiered December 9, 2025 on Magnolia and HGTV both. No announcement has changed Magnolia’s structure under the new Skydance ownership; anything you hear otherwise is, for now, unconfirmed.

Still filming, still no date

The Flip Off is the strangest story in the whole saga. HGTV renewed it on August 21, 2025 — it was the network’s highest-rated freshman series since 2022 — and Tarek El Moussa, Heather Rae El Moussa and Christina Haack began filming Season 2 on September 29, 2025. They were still filming in July 2026; Heather explained the houses sometimes need a hiatus to “catch up.” As of the latest reporting, HGTV has announced no premiere date. It is also, for both of its headliners, the only confirmed series either has: no new solo HGTV show has been announced for Tarek (Flipping 101 has not been renewed for a fifth season), and none for Christina, whose confirmed ventures beyond the show are her design firm and her Clé Cachée champagne, launched September 2025. Her design firm’s December 2025 tease of “something special” was never said to be a TV show — fans theorised; nobody confirmed.

Keith and Evan, in their own words and work

No new show is confirmed for Keith Bynum and Evan Thomas — no title, no network, no date. Their confirmed work is client projects through their Detroit company, NINE Design + Homes. What exists beyond that is teasing: Bynum told People in April 2026 that fans asking for a new show “might just get your wish,” and Thomas has joked about spying a camera guy. After what Part 2 documented, read the teases as hope with good PR instincts — nothing more until a network says otherwise.

Egypt and Mike: in production, network unknown

Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson are the cancelled class’s overachievers. Two new series — Home Abroad with Egypt and Mike and Deserving Design — are confirmed in production, with filming in Spain, Panama and Oaxaca and Vietnam named as a next stop. But here is the fact that matters and keeps getting lost: as of People’s reporting in both April and May 2026, no network or platform has been officially announced for either show, and there are no premiere dates. When a network is announced, it will be news. Until then, anyone calling Home Abroad an HGTV show is guessing.

The confirmed return guide

For the shows that were never in danger — and the dates readers keep asking for: Love It or List It aired Season 21 from June 23, 2026, with David Visentin and Page Turner. Renovation Aloha’s third season premiered March 31, 2026; the Kalamas denied cancellation rumours on Instagram Live in April (“Our show is not canceled… not even close”) amid a genuinely difficult season — an HGTV apology and episode re-edit after a civil complaint over footage in the “Bones on the Big Island” episode — and a fourth season has the couple’s own “Yup!” to a fan but no official HGTV announcement yet. Home Town’s tenth season premiered January 4, 2026, and the Napiers added a spinoff, Home Town: Inn This Together, on May 10, 2026. Ugliest House in America aired Season 7 in January 2026 and Season 8 in July. Rock the Block’s seventh season landed April 13, 2026, in Las Vegas. Scariest House in America’s third season premiered September 18, 2026, expanded to full hours. And the Baeumlers — Sarah and Bryan — host Home Town Takeover Canada, premiering October 25, 2026 on HGTV Canada.

The 247 Take — The class of 2025 didn’t disappear; it dispersed — into cheaper formats, rival stages, client work and one very long shoot — and the map of where they landed tells you more about TV’s future than the cancellations did.
