No Doubt Rocks Steady At BottleRock Day 3!!!

REVIEW: BottleRock Napa closes with Gwen Stefani as No Doubt Rocks Steady At BottleRock Day 3 along with Snoop Dogg, AwolNation, The Black Crows Chris Robinson Brotherhood.

No Doubt sold out BottleRock Day 3 of the festival as 35,000 festival goers came out in droves to see No Doubt Rock Steady, Push And Shove and then Return to Saturn all on a Sunday Morning. You might say that the festival is growing since it drew some 100,000 fans over three days, out-distancing the 80,000 of last year.

Gwen Stefani took to the stage with her fashion forward look, wearing a silk, rainbow-colored track suit with the ends of her platinum-blond hair dipped in black as only she can. It was a made house and if you were in the pit trying to get a shot of the So Cal Rock goddess it was a bit difficult since security was power tripping. Despite the bump in the road CelebNMusic247.com was able to snap No Doubt in action. They took fans of the Rock/Scaw/Pop veteran group No Doubt as the crowd in a sang-along to hits like “Push and Shove,” “Don’t Speak,” “Just a Girl,” “One More Summer,” “Hey Baby,” “Hella Good,” “Sunday Morning” and many more for their 1 hour and 50 minute set. There were two very cool moments during No Doubt’s headlining set. The first was when Gwen said:

“You know what’s fun? To sing to your actual faces and not just see your names online.”

The second was When No Doubt played “Rock Steady” and then transitioned into the hit Talk Talk cover “It’s My Life.”

Cool right?

It gets better, so let us take you through our third day of BottleRock 2015:

Before his performance on the Intel Stage, Snoop Dogg took over the Culinary Stage with host Liam who pared Snoop with

Chef Morimotto to make California Rolls.

The interesting part was that Snoop Dogg had NEVER eaten sushi before. Chef Masaharu Morimoto took him thru the steps as the crowd went wild to watch the hip hop veteran Snoop D O Double G roll sushi with none other than Masaharu Morimoto, the Japanese restaurateur famous as the Iron Chef, on the Culinary Stage, a platform equipped with kitchen appliances and cutting boards. The Culinary Stage was the newest edition to year three of the unique music festival that offers more than just music, hot dogs, beer and soda.

The Culinary Stage was a great addition to the festival thanks to Liam who hosted the Culinary Stage and Festival producer Latitude 38 Entertainment decided to take the union of music and food a step further. At this years BottleRock spectators were treated to the sights of Joe Kwon, cellist for The Avett Brothers, whipping up Korean-inspired dishes with Brad Farmerie, founding chef of The Thomas at Fagiani’s, Ben McKee of Imagine Dragons partnering with chef Rick Moonen to mix sustainably harvested seafood with foraged produce and Scott Weiland make sausage with Tyler Rodde & Earl Brown and Flavor Flav and Michael Voltaggio fry Chicken.

Following his Culinary Stage appearance, Snoop Dogg held a meet and greet backstage with Platinum ticket holders. Then Latter BUSH rapper took to the stage.

Snoop only played about 50 minutes but he got his fans rolling, bringing both members of Tha Dogg Pound, Daz Dillinger and Kurupt on stage for an energetic and enthusiastic performance. But CNM247 has to admit the highlight of Snoop Dogg’s set would be when he covered Biggie’s “Hypnotize” and House of Pain’s “Jump Around” during his BottleRock set. But the crowd went wild when Snoop took to his gold encrusted mic to spit verses of “Nothing But a G Thang,” “California Gurls,” “Young, Wild and Free” “Peaches N Cream,” “I Wanna Rock,” and “Gangsta Party.”

The Dogg Father made sure to make his mark at BottleRock this year and fans couldn’t get enough hip hop, maybe in 2016 we

can see Kendrick Lamar, Drake or Dr Dre along with 3 other hip hop acts at BottleRock 2016.

Over at The Jam Cellars Stage AwolNation killed it with his industrial/alternative rock

performance that had fans mesmerized. This was our third time watching AwolNation and we have to admit his performance was stellar. While Snoop rapped “Gin & Juice” over on the Intel stage, AwolNation put on a high-energy set for a very loyal crowd. Frontman, Aaron Bruno closed his set with the mega hit that put him on the map, “Sail” but NOT before telling his fans, “BottleRock, we love you more than you’ll ever know.”

Other highlights of BottleRock Day 3 were:

Echosmith (the brother and sister group) who is more season on stage that some veteran musicians. Lead singer, Sydney know exactly how to keep her audience engaged as she took the mic while her brothers were the perfect blend on stage. Noah Sierota is the groups bassist, Jamie is on guitar and the band’s

youngest member, is 16-year-old brother Graham who plays drums. They brought it on stage with their breakthrough hit “Cool Kids,” plus the Talking Heads’ “This Must Be the Place” during the early afternoon set.

Other Stand out performance were New York City native, American Authors lead singer Zac Barnett took over the Intel

Stage with their hit songs like “Believers” and “Best Day of My Life” from their Oh, What a Life album at the Napa Valley Expo Center in Napa, Calif. The Island Records band kept their audience completely engaged with the performance as the sun began to slip behind the trees during the festival.

While fans were rocking to the East Coast sounds of American Authors, one of our favorite Bluegrass/folk-rock bands, Trampled By Turtles hit the stage giving fans that country-style rock equipped with banjo’s and more. The Duluth, Minnesota folk rock band gave fans what they wanted. Hits after hits, like “Wait So Long”, “Wild Animals,” and “Alone”

Our Discoveries at BottleRock 2015 are:

This year we have a few discoveries from the festival that we recommend that you check out or even add to your music catalog.

the-frail-BRN-0531-1

First off is the brutal folk-blues-punk sound from The Last Internationale, who are wicked on guitar. The New York City natives consist of Edgey Pires on guitar and Delila Paz on vocals and former Rage Against The Machine drummer, Brad Wilk. They were truly impressive as they hit the stage rocking the Jams Stage in the early hours of day 3. The Last Internationale played songs like “Wanted Man” and “Killing Fields” from their debut album “We Will Reign.”

Are next discovery was The Frail who rocked a great set on the City Stage. Although we didn’t venture to the City Stage often this year, The Frail was the MUST SEE band on Sunday. The came on mid-day to perform hits like “You Just Wanna Leave,” “Automatic,” “I Never Knew You,” and “Back to Me” from their debut album  Love Death Legend.

We had a really enjoyable time watching The Frail.

Kicking off the early part of the day was The People Under the Stairs who had festival goers going wild as the took the mic spitting dope verse after verse on the Intel Stage.

The Los Angeles independent hip-hop duo Christopher Portugal and Michael Turner, best known as, Thes One and Double K, took over the stage giving fans what they wanted…hip hop. They played hits like “Acid Raindrops,” “The Break Down” and “San Francisco Nights.”

Lastly is Black Crows frontman Chris Robinson Brotherhood who took over the Miner Stage closing the night of BottleRock Napa. It was scheduled that No Doubt and Chris Robinson Brotherhood were going up at the same time, but thankfully while we waited for the guys to take to the stage they were still in sound check so we dashed over to No Doubt to see Gwen. Later we circled back around to check out the amazing performance Chris Robinson was giving fans.

One of the coolest things about heading over to the Miner Stage was that Chris Robinson Brotherhood have some true diehard fans like Michelle from New Jersey who was on vacations and decided to buy a ticket to see Chris Robinson Brotherhood at the Miner Stage with her friends.

We thought was cool is that she and her friends only came to see Robinson close the festival with some good ol rock and roll.

Hats off to Michelle for traveling from so far to see BottleRock, but also a big round of applause to Chris Robins for his amazing performance on Sunday night at BottleRock 2015.

This marks his second time at the festival, but first as Chris Robinson Brotherhood. They played hits like, “Rosalee,” “Let’s Go Let’s Go Let’s Go” and “One Hundred Days of Rain.”

Thank you for another great year….
