ScHoolboy Q turned a nostalgia tour into a news event. Closing out a stop on his 10 Years of Blank Face LP anniversary run, the TDE rapper announced his seventh studio album from the stage — THank Que — and shut down the retirement talk that has trailed him for years, per Hypebeast.

“New album called THank Que coming out next year. I promise you that,” Q told the crowd, per Hypebeast. “Ten-year anniversary, and I’mma be around for the 20th too. I promise that. I will never retire.”

The update firms up a trail Q has been laying down since July, when he teased the album on Instagram. Per the project’s details reported so far, THank Que is set to run 12 tracks — and it is his first album recorded completely sober, a notable turn for an artist whose catalog has never hidden his relationship with substances. The album follows BLUE LIPS, which arrived in March 2024 and ended a five-year gap after 2019’s CrasH Talk — the long silences that kept fueling speculation Q might walk away.

The announcement lands in the middle of a proper victory lap. What started as a one-off idea — Q floated a single Los Angeles show at the Palladium in an Instagram Story (“Blank Face turns 10. Appreciate everybody… F— it, let’s do one show in L.A. at the Palladium. F— it, new vinyl too,” per Daily Music Roll) — grew into a nine-city, ten-night anniversary run, with stops including Phoenix’s Van Buren and a finale at Brooklyn Bowl in Las Vegas, per Daily Music Roll.

So the “promising update” is really three promises at once: a new album in 2027, a sober first, and a man telling his fans — on a stage built to celebrate his past — that he is not done. Tracklist, features and a first single are still to come.
