50 Cent Loses "In Da Club" Lawsuit Against Rick Ross

Longtime rivals 50 Cent and Rick Ross have been battling it out in court ever since he released a 14-minute video of Rosay’s baby mama.

That didn’t sit well with Rick Ross and now it’s a dish served cold for 50 Cent...

50 Cent Loses "In Da Club" Lawsuit Against Rick RossCelebNMusic247.com reports that 50 Cent lost the lawsuit against Rick Ross who used a sample of “In Da Club” on his on his mixtape Renzel Remixes.

Rick Ross released the Renzel Remixes mixtape in 2015, and shortly after the release, 50 Cent SLAPPED the MMG CEO with a $2 million lawsuit.

The stated that the “In Da Club” lawsuit was dismissed without merit.

In court, Fif tried to legally justify the move by arguing that Ross was specifically using the remix to promote his retail album, Black Market.

That questionable argument isn’t why the suit just got tossed out. Instead, the judge ruled Curtis Jackson aka rapper 50 Cent does not own the copyright or master recordings for “In Da Club,” Shady/Aftermath Records does.

The judge claims that Fif had no right to sue Rick Ross, and that is why the “In Da Club” lawsuit was dismissed without merit, according to TMZ.

In addition, Rick Ross’ lawyer Leron Rogers, had this to say about a federal judge dismissing Fif’s case:

Today, attorney Leron Rogers, partner, Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP, announced that in a sealed, federal court summary judgement order (No. 3:17-cv-00550-WWE), that his client, William Leonard Roberts, II, a.k.a. Rick Ross, was exonerated of wrongdoing in a mixtape right of publicity lawsuit brought by Curtis James Jackson, III, a.k.a. 50 Cent, in 2015. A case of first impression, United States District Court of Connecticut Senior U.S. District Judge Warren Eginton clarified the use of sampled music in Mixtapes.

Does this mean Fif needs to get Eminem and Dr Dre involved? Will he go that far?

We will keep you posted…
