50 Cent On Interscope Split
50 Cent made a HUGE announcement on Tursday the he and Interscope had parted ways and G-Unit would move to Caroline, under Capitol Records.
With the 2014 change up for 50 Cent moving the G-Unit imprint the release date for his Animal Ambition album, which was originally supposed to arrive prior to the delayed Street King Immortal album, although we’ve received no update on Street King Immortal just yet.
All we can say is 50 Cent is back ya”ll because if “The Funeral” aka “50 Bars Pt. 2.” is the start of his new album Animal Ambition we can’t wait. It’s a strong release from Fif with production from Jake One, creating anticipation for what’s to come.
50 has spoken with Forbes about his departure from Interscope, and explains how he’s a special case. In regards to 50 Cent having to buy back his music like Jay Z did when he left his label Fif explains why he is a special case. He says he didn’t have to fork over any cash.
He explains:
“I’m a special case and situation.”
“It’s also because of the leverage of having the strong relationships with Eminem and Dr. Dre. They don’t want me to be uncomfortable. They value our friendship to the point that they would never want [to jeopardize] it over that little bit of money.”
Bascially Curtis Jackson aka 50 Cent’s agreement is like Bryan “Birdman” Williams’ label Cash Money which doles out a mere 7% of wholesale per album to Universal in exchange for distribution and support.
He adds looking toeard the future:
“It’s freedom to invest in your own ideas.”
“If ever I had a horse that I was betting on at the track, I’d like to be the horse. Let it be me, goddammit, because I’m going to run as hard as I can.”
