There’s no better way to while away the afternoon than by sitting down with some popcorn and watching some music movies, so here are the 10 Best Music Movies.
That’s why we’ve tried to find what we think are the top music based movies.
1- Blues Brothers
We’re starting off strong with Blues Brothers; this delightful comic-caper covered the rich history of America’s music history with songs and cameos from amazing musicians like Ray Charles, Cab Calloway and even James Brown.
2- Rocky Horror Picture Show
It wouldn’t be a music related movie list unless Rocky Horror got a mention. Filled with hilarious scenes this once controversial and now cult movie features some of the best song ever to appear in a movie. Who doesn’t love doing the Time Warp?
3- Loud Quiet Loud: A Film about the Pixies
Filled with drama this behind-the-scenes documentary charts the bands 2004 reunion, this is a heart-wrenching confrontation with drummer David Lovering about his addiction, plus a look at what life on the road is really like.
4- Walk the Line
This iconic biographical movie about the late and legendary man in black features a no-holds barred look at his struggles through addiction and his rocky relationship with his wife June all whilst blasting out some of his iconic songs.
5- 8 Mile
Eminem’s first step into the limelight this movie was so close to home for the rapper that it was almost a biography. Tracking the rise to stardom of trailer park born Rabbit this movies highlights are the tongue-twisting rap-battles against other MC’s.
6- This Is Spinal Tap
Everyone has a favourite quote from this comedy mockumentary about the rise of Glam Metal band Spinal Tap. Filled with tons of witty one-liners and great songs this movie really kicks it ‘up to 11’.
7-Blur: No Distance Left to Run
This retrospective movie takes you through the bands early days to their rise to stardom. Filled with tons of hilarious behind the scenes it’s a must-watch for any Blur fanatic.
8- Meeting People Is Easy
This brilliant documentary is a great behind-the-scenes on-tour look at Radiohead and how they struggled with the promotional rollercoaster their ‘OK Computer’ success launched them on. A stark portrayal of the tedium faced by musicians on the road it’s quite an eye-opener.
9- Some Kind of Monster
This movie is a grim in-studio look at Metallica and the rivalries that they create based round ego-driven rivalries and how they went through a stage of failing to write any good music.
10- Trainspotting
To top of our list we’ve got Danny Boyles Trainspotting, this dark cult film is filled with tons of great early Britpop tunes and amazing American hits from the likes of Iggy Pop and Lour Reed.
