After being cast to play Nina Simone in an upcoming bio-pic Star Trek star Zoe Saldana found herself at the center of a huge controversy!

Now, Zoe has opened up about the backlash and explains how she coped with her critics

Zoe tells Hip Hollywood:

”What kept me from getting stressed and being hurt by the negative comments is that I’m doing it for my sisters and my brothers and I don’t care who tells me I’m not this or I’m not that. I know who I am and I know what Nina Simone means to me.”

“I did it all for love. Out of love for Nina, my people and who I am and my pride of being a Black woman and a Latina woman and an American woman. That’s my truth.”

I feel bad for Zoe because she’s upset, but what about the pain and the tears that is falling down the faces of Simone, her daughter and uncle. Who are against the movie. I hate to see people cry, but she should realize the hurt and anger from Nina’s family. How can she look Simone in the face, and tell her to accept her in a fake tacky afro wig, spray tan, and a fake nose? Will she be able to wipe their tears. Try living the Simone family trauma and not having your cry heard.
