Wind Seeker Malfunctions At Knott’s Berry Farm

(CelebNMusic247) Wind Seeker Malfunctions At Knott’s Berry Farm:

Earlier today, amusement park fans got a shocking surprise at Knott’s Berry Farm, because one of their  most popular rides has malfunctioned.

The thrill ride, Wind Seeker  just stopped working in mid-ride around 4 p.m., suspending 20 riders about 300 feet in the air near the top of the ride, according to Jennifer Blazey, spokeswoman for the park.

The 32 passenger ride that is constructed of 16 two-person gondolas that goes up 301 feet up then swings riders for a minute at a 45-degree angle at eight rotations per minute, according to Knott’s website.

There were no immediate reports of injuries. Just a few scared and startled riders. Currently Knott’s Berry Farm is using its own maintenance crew to handle the malfunction.  The riders have been stuck for over 3 hours.

Now here’s the problem:

Marc Stone said:

Orange County Fire Authority firefighters were not called to respond to the malfunctioning ride, OCFA Capt.

And not only that, but it has been said that the park doesn’t know how to get the riders down. The clock is ticking as the riders are still 300 feet off the ground. They are strapped in their seats but who knows how and when they will fix the ride. This is the longest amount of time that a ride has been stuck with riders trapped.

This is not the first time the ride has broken down, it got stuck on Sept. 7 and took three hours for maintenance crews to manually lower the ride. This is the second time in 14 days that the ride has malfunctioned with riders on the ride leaving stranded guests hundreds of feet in the air.

We hope they fix the ride soon and get these kids down..

UPDATE: 11:23PM – Riders on the Wind Seeker were finally were able to put their feet back on the ground 31/2 hours after the ride broke down3 quarters the way up the tower. The ride came to a halt after a security system activated

At the time of the breakdown 20 riders were on board for the ride of their lives. After meeting up with family and friend who had to wait around for the unsuspected breakdown, one rider said, “I took of my shoe just so I could feel the ground again.”

There were no injuries.

The WindSeeker will remain closed while Knott’s investigates the cause of the incident, according to a statement from the amusement park.

Each Knott’s ride is inspected daily, according to the statement.
