Val Kilmer Calls Anthony Bourdain "Selfish" For Committing Suicide

Apparently, Val Kilmer has no respect for iconic chef Anthony Bourdain who was said to have been suffering from depression and ended up taking his own life on Friday.

The Top Gun star who is returning to his role as the Iceman, Val Kilmer is calling Bourdain “Selfish” for committing suicide. Read on…

Val Kilmer Calls Anthony Bourdain "Selfish" For Committing SuicideVal Kilmer was very upset to hear about Anthony Bourdain committing suicide in France at the early age of 61, so he took to Facebook to voice his frustrations.

First,  Jeff Zucker, the President of CNN was shocked by the news, so he released this statement in the wake of Anthony Bourdain’s death:

Anthony Bourdain that took place this morning after he committed suicide has rocked the entertainment world and those closest to him. “His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller. His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time.

Meanwhile, actor Val Kilmer vented his frustration and anger that Bourdain choice to end his life by mocking poetically, “Oh the dark thick pain of loss. The selfishness.”

Val continued by questioning why via Facebook:

So, what? I hear you took your life in Paris. What hotel? Did you relapse? Did you just get home from the best meal of your life? Did you cheat on your girl?

Then, he vented:

Those of us that knew you are shocked and angry and angry and angry selfishly angry, for what you just did to us. Millions I should think. At least a million people like me who imagine they know you.

Some imagine they know you even well. But you heard that phone ringing, you felt it buzzing in your coat or pants pocket, vibrating a million times, but you didn’t answer it. You let it ring out. Did you bleed out? Did you suffocate? Did you jump? No, you didn’t jump. Is it important we know how you did it? No. But that you did it.

Kilmer went on to ask did Anthony not realize that he was loved by millions?

From every corner of the world, you were loved. So selfish. You’ve given us cause to be so angry. A spiritual guide once told me suicide is the most selfish act a human can execute and I was confused but she explained there’s just no mental place further away from humanity and purpose than the hypnotized numbness that creates the false picture of despair, that forces the victim, unaware, to believe, life’s legacy is over.

Val went on to say how he learned that suicide was a selfish act:

A spiritual guide once told me suicide is the most selfish act a human can execute and I was confused but she explained there’s just no mental place further away from humanity and purpose than the hypnotized numbness that creates the false picture of despair, that forces the victim, unaware, to believe, life’s legacy is over. That there is no more service. No more task. No more love left to give to another to be given. Nothing to heal.

We actually agree with Val Kilmer on this subject. Here is what we have to say about Val Kilmer’s open letter:

He is right! Suicide is NOT an answer. We are put on this earth to learn, to strive and be tested. God gives us the tools, our parents or mentors are there to guide us, but each of us NEED to understand, we all make mistake. Heartbreak hurts, loneliness feels like forever and hate can make you want out. But overcoming the obstacles in life is the key. The best success comes from the worst failure. If people hate you, move on! Success is the best revenge and SUICIDE IS NOT AN ANSWER no matter how bad you feel. Taking another person life because you want to kill yourself is selfish as well.

Live life to the fullest and appreciate the small things, the dirt you walk on, the air you breathe, the trees, wind, smell, sight, hearing, laughter, bugs, dust or whatever. It’s a beautiful world, but it is what you make it. Don’t let the ugly, the hate, and crime get you down, that is the devil succeeding.
