Warner Bros. UK just unveiled the very first clip from the film and it’s above and beyond that promo. The Gallows centers on a group of teens who attempt to resurrect a failed school play 20 years after the accidental death of the lead actor, Charlie. In this new clip, it shows exactly what happened to him.
The film is home video-style but in this scene it’s from a disturbing point of view as a audience member catches the horrific incident on film.

The visual feels eerily real and even worse, the prop malfunction seems plausible. Based on the film’s trailer, it looks as though The Gallows will have a good deal of running around shaky-cam style. There are enough disturbingly simple, grounded moments like this that should have audience goers on the edge of their seats.

The Gallows really could be an especially unsettling experience.
The film stars Cassidy Gifford, Ryan Shoos, Reese Mishler and Pfeifer Brown, and is due in theaters on July 10, 2015.
