Taylor Kitsch Calls Himself ‘White Trash’???

The True Detective star Taylor Kitsch has come a long way from his humble beginnings, but Taylor Kitsch Calls Himself ‘White Trash’.

Before Taylor starred as John Carter (which we would love to see a sequel to), or battled Aliens in Battleship, the actor used to sleep in subway trains when he was a struggling model.

The 34-year-old actor opened up in an Elle interview about being raised by a single mom in Kelowna, British Columbia, and his struggles when he moved to New York City to model.

Here is what Taylor had to say:

The former “Friday Night Lights” star Kitsch tells the magazine bluntly:

“White trash. Growing up, I really was…Proud of it.”

He was approached by a modeling scout after graduating from high school where he signed with IMG modeling agency in 2002, but his life was far from glamorous.

Taylor explains:

“It’s not like I was this mainstream f–kin’ runway model…I wasn’t working.”

Then hit pretty much rock bottom.

He surprisingly reveals:

“I lived in an apartment in Spanish Harlem with no electricity, and then I lost that, so I’d just catch the blue train.”

“It skips a lot of stops at night, and then it stays up at 181st Street, I think. So I’d sleep there. And the security guy would come on and be like, ‘Get out.’ And I’d get out.”

As for his love life, Kitsch says he’s currently single.

He concludes:

“You sacrifice so f–kin’ much [as an actor]. How do you build a relationship with a gal and then tell her, ‘Hey, I gotta do press all over the world. I expect you to have the same feelings you have now in eight weeks.'”

“And that’s not me playing the violin. It’s my choice. But it better be worth sacrificing for.”

We are glad to hear that Taylor Kitsch is part of the new series on HBO’s “True Detective,” premiering on Sunday.

Kitsch is starring alongside Rachel McAdams, Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn.
