Rock The Bells Confirms Return In 2014

Rock The Bells Confirms Return In 2014

The Rock The Bells festival organizers, Guerilla Union, have released an official statement that despite low ticket sales in 2013, the hip hop tour will return in 2014.

This year Rock The Bells festival was FORCED to cancel  both New York and Washington shows due to low ticket sales.

Although the line up was extraordinary, especially with the Easy E, and ODB holograms, concertgoers just didn’t flock to the show. Times are hard and with tickets being so darn over-priced, less and less people are rushing out to see big venue shows.  Plus RTB was going up against artists like Kanye West, Jay Z, Justin Timberlake and Drake, so concertgoers had to make a choice and Rock The Bells lost out.

Guerilla Union founder Chang Weisberg has released an official video statement explaining the Rock The Bells cancellations in depth, also pledging to return in 2014.

Peep Weisberg’s full statement below. It comes with this disclaimer:

“The bigger reasons, the macro-version, there were a lot of great shows that were out touring in our same time period; that could be a factor. The fact that Jay-Z was on sale, the fact that Kanye was on sale, the fact that Drake was on sale; there were just a lot of great hip-hop shows, and I wish all of them well. I think competition increases the market, and I’m happy that all these acts can be touring, and ultimately, maybe, that was one of the issues.”

“The fans are the most vital part of the festival – without your passion, energy and support, we are nothing. We are listening to your comments, learning from what has transpired, and taking it with us as we move forward. Be there with us.”

Hopefully Rock The Bells will come back strong and hopefully they’ll leave the late rappers to rest.

Rock The Bells CANCELLED

(CelebNMusic247-NewsRock The Bells CANCELLED

Sorry fans, but Rock The Bells has been CANCELLED in D.C. and New York due to lack of ticket sales for the star-studded hip hop music event!

The Rock The Bells stop in D.C. was supposed to be held at RFK Stadium, however Chinyere Hubbard, the Vice President of Communications and Marketing for RFK’s operator Event DC confirmed with Washington City Paper that the event has been cancelled. The D.C. leg was supposed to occur this weekend (September 28th and 29th).

Guerilla Union released the official statement regarding the cancellation with Guerilla Union founder and owner Chad Weisberg speaking on the matter:

First and foremost, it is with great sadness and disappointment that we must cancel the Washington, DC and New York City Rock the Bells dates due to lack of ticket sales. I, along with our staff, the artists, and all of the sponsors, media partners, local promoters, and radio stations involved are thankful for our supporters and the fans that planned on attending. It’s extremely unfortunate that we can’t complete the last half of the 10th Anniversary Rock the Bells tour. We did everything in our power to save the show. Unfortunately, the financial loss would have been devastating. I am truly sorry we could not produce the show for all the fans who did buy their ticket in support of.

Full refunds will be honored at the location where fans purchased their tickets. More details can be found on the festival’s official website at www.rockthebells.net.

Ol’Dirty Bastard Hologram Performs Alongside His Son

(CelebNMusic247-NewsOl’Dirty Bastard Hologram Performs Alongside His Son

Rock The Bells kicked off in Los Angeles over the weekend and Ol’Dirty Bastard was on stage with his Wu Tang Clan to rock the mic and spit a verse or two.

It’s been 10 years since hip hop lost Ol’Dirty bastard, but his essence was surely a part of the Wu Tangs set this time around for  a special Rock The Bells. ODB is the second artist to hit a festival circuit like Tupac a couple years ago with Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg at Coachella.

Night 2 of the Festival brought out the second headlining act, The Wu-Tang Clan, who brought out a “hologram” Ol’ Dirty Bastard for a virtual performance of “Shame on a Nigga” and then Young Dirty Bastard to rap alongside his dad for “Shimmy Shimmy Ya” during Rock The Bells 2013 Day 2 at San Manuel Amphitheater in Los Angeles San Bernardino, CA on September 8th, 2013.

Rock the Bells successfully pulled off a second hologram performance on night two of the double-date festival in San Bernardino, CA, but not without technical glitches.

As promised, a digitally imposed Ol’Dirty Bastard joined the Wu-Tang Clan’s headlining set to close the show, but before he touched down to perform alongside his son Young Dirty Bastard, The Wu — sans Raekwon and Ghostface Killah —had already lost their sound.
