SNL Announcer Don Pardo Dies at 96!!!

We are sad to announce that long-time Saturday Night Live announcer Don Pardo has died aged 96.

Since 1975 when Saturday Night Live first started, the Massachusetts-born star, Don Pardo voiced the sketch show aside his one season out of action in the early ’80s.

Pardo voice became a staple of SNL, his daughter Paula confirmed her father’s death to CBS Radio. Depsite his retirement from NBC in 2004, he continued to pre-record segments for SNL from his home in Arizona.

Don also became a recognized voice for his work on game shows such as The Price Is Right, Jackpot and Jeopardy!.

He started off in radio with WJAR-AM in 1983, before joining NBC as an in-house announcer in 1944.

During his career, he worked as a war reporter during World War II, and was also the first voice to announce President John F Kennedy‘s assassination to NBC viewers in 1963.

RIP sir, and thank you for all your years on SNL, it won’t be the same without you.
