Best known as Saruman in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Trilogies, actor Sir Christopher Lee dies at 93.

Hollywood screen legend Sir Christopher Lee famous for roles in Hammer Horror films and Star Wars died in hospital after suffering heart and respiratory problems.

Lee defined the macabre for a generation of horror film enthusiasts with his chilling portrayals of Count Dracula; in a career that spanned more than half a century Lee played the sinister vampire no fewer than nine times in productions including “Horror of Dracula” (1958), “Dracula: Prince of Darkness” (1966), ‘Dracula Has Risen from the Grave’ (1968), “Count Dracula ” (1970), “Taste the Blood of Dracula” (1970), “Scars of Dracula” (1970), “Dracula A.D. 1972” (1972), “The Satanic Rites of Dracula” (1973), and his final Dracula role in “Dracula and Son” (1976).

For 20+ years Lee was known for his role as Dracula and countless horror films He loved making horror film fan and playing Dracula. He transitioned from horror films to “The Three Musketeers” and “The Four Musketeers: Milady’s Revenge” where he played, Rochefort in the 2 movie franchise. The movie showcased is ability to play strong character roles like James Bond villain and his 10 year stint in the Peter Jackson films The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit franchise.

Lee was one of Britain’s greatest actors, his career spanned genres, generations over an impressive seven decades. He has over 281 film credits according to IMDB.com which dates back to his early beginings on Kaleidoscope in 1946 – 1947.

Lastly, it’s emerged Sir Christopher died as he prepared to start filming for his latest movie, co-starring Uma Thurman. In one of his last interviews, he declared: “When I die, I want to die with my boots on.” He certainly stayed true to his word.
