(CelebNMusic247 – News) Pharrell Inks Artist Deal with Columbia

Former N.E.R.D. member/producer, Pharrel Williams has just signed on with Columbia Records with long-awaited solo album set for 2014.

Pharrell in 2013, has proved his songwriting worth with hits ranging from Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” to Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky.” It’s no surprise Pharrell was able to parlay his skills into a deal with Columbia as an artist.

Here’s the drop:

The label announced the deal today, indicating that Skateboard P’s forthcoming solo effort would see release in 2014. Unfortunately, they provided no further details in terms of a date, but did confirm that the songwriter’s track, “Happy,” from the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack (also known for its ambitious video) would appear on the album.

Pharrell hinted at the direction of his next project in a recent interview:

“I love rapping,” he said, “but—something’s coming, and I’m not rapping on it.”
