Odd Future’s manager, Christian Clancy speaks on the controversy surrounding a Tyler, the Creator-helmed Mountain Dew viral commercial!
The controversial commercial led to the beverage brand removing the ad from all of its online affiliates.
The add, which centered on a battered woman picking members of Tyler’s Odd Future crew out of a police lineup, offended many; but the group’s management has issued a statement conveying that Tyler didn’t realize the ad would generate such a backlash.
Christian Clancy, the band’s manager said via a statement issued to MTV News:
“It was never Tyler’s intention to offend however.”
“Offense is personal and valid to anyone who is offended. Out of respect to those that were offended the ad was taken down.”
