Trent Reznor has just lost Adrian Belew after the King Crimson guitarist took to his Facebook to announce his departure from the group.

Belew posted on his  Facebook last night revealing that it was not a right fit for him although he respect creator and frontman Trent Reznor.

Adrian wrote:

“It didn’t work.”

“I greatly respect Trent [Reznor] and the music he makes.”

Belew wrote, according to Consequence of Sound:

“No one is at fault. We both agreed it just was not working. I’m sorry to disappoint anyone.”

Belew added that he plans to refocus his energy on his current solo project, FLUX.

Here’s the drop:

The former King Crimson guitarist has collaborated occasionally with Nine Inch Nails over the years, and joined the band on a full-time basis back in February. His departure makes him the second member of the new Nine Inch Nails lineup to leave after bassist Eric Avery departed last month. The band, however, did recently welcome back longtime NIN associate Robin Finck on guitar.

Nine Inch Nails are set to play a handful of festival dates this summer – starting with the Fuji Rock Festival on June 26th, with appearances at Lollapallooza and Outside Lands to follow – and just announced a sprawling North American tour for this fall.

The  upcoming new record, Hesitation Marks is slated for a September 3rd release on Columbia.
