Michelle Rodriguez Apology For Offending Minorities!!!

Furious 7 star Michelle Rodriguez Apology For Offending Minorities after making the comment that minorities in Hollywood NEED to STOP “stealing” white superheroes.

Shortly after Michelle Rodriguez faced backlash for saying the rumor she would play Green Lantern on the big screen was “stupid.”

Rodriguez made her original remarks when she was confronted by TMZ over the weekend. When asked about the reports she might play Green Lantern in the upcoming Justice League movies, the actress replied:

“That’s the dumbest thing I ever heard. I think it’s so stupid because of this whole minorities in Hollywood thing. It’s so stupid. Stop stealing all the white people’s superheroes. Make up your own. What’s up with that?”

Here is where the backlash comes in because Michelle was NOT versed on the comic book hero Jessica Cruz, a Latino version of the superhero, who was recently introduced in the Green Lantern comics.

Michelle Rodriguez wasn’t aware that the Green Lantern speculation was centered around her possibly playing Jessica Cruz, a Latino version of the superhero, who was recently introduced in the comics. Nor did she realize Marvel Comics already has several minority superhero films in the works, including the African-American Black Panther and the female Captain Marvel.

Despite Rodriguez’s comments, there have been some minority actors playing traditionally white superhero roles as of late. Samuel L. Jackson embodied Nick Fury in the various Marvel movies, and Michael B. Jordan is playing the Human Torch in the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot.

On Saturday, just as Michelle Rodriguez’s “minorities” remarks stirred heavy backlash on Twitter, the actress responded to the controversy. She said her remarks were “taken out of context” and clarified that she just wanted minorities to create their own characters instead of remaking established ones.

Rodriguez said in a Facebook video:

“I’m just saying that instead of trying to turn a girl character into a guy, or instead of trying to turn a white character into a black character or a Latin character, I think that people should stop being lazy and that people should actually make an effort in Hollywood to develop their own mythology.”

Michelle Rodriguez added:

“It’s not about taking Catwoman or Superman or Green Lantern … and trying to make them fit to whatever cultural background you are. I just feel like it should be more creative than that, and I think that people need to stop being lazy. … I think that it’s time for us to write our own mythology and our own story — every culture. That’s what I really meant and I’m sorry if it came off rude or stupid.”
