– Unfortunately Sorrentino lost his attorney who was repping him since Richard J. Sapinski of the Newark law firm Sills, Cummis & Gross, was granted permission to withdraw from the case.

– Sapinski withdrew from the case because Sorentino didn’t pay for his services. He explained it like this, “to date, Mr. Sorrentino has not been able to meet the obligations of the fee agreement, and there is no reasonable expectation that he will be able to do so.” U.S. District Judge Susan D. Wigenton granted his withdraw from the case.

Sapinski clarified his reasons by saying:

“Basically, in order for me to have continued, he had to make additional payments, and he didn’t and he’s unable to do so.”

– Since then, the trial is postponed so that Michael Sorrentino can get a new lawyer and the judge gave Sorentino until Wednesday Oct. 14 to address the situation, according to court documents.
