Maya Angelou Honored by USPS With Stamp!

The amazing Maya Angelou honored by USPS Forever stamp:

This is a forever first class postage and will come out by the U.S. Postal Service later this year!

CelebNMusic247.com are thrilled to hear that Maya Angelou, endearingly called Mother Maya will be honored by the United States Postal service.  She was such an incredible woman who inspired our Nation.

The honor was announced yesterday by Postmaster General Megan Brennan. Following the news, she delivered a touching statement about it: “Maya Angelou inspired our nation through a life of advocacy and through her many contributions to the written and spoken word. Her wide-ranging achievements as a playwright, poet, memoirist, educator, and advocate for justice and equality enhanced our culture.” We’re so excited!

It’s been awhile since we’ve heard news of a Black hero and heroine being honored through the American tradition of the everyday stamp publicly. But the U.S. Postal continues to print its Black heritage series, their latest and 38th inductee being Robert Robinson Taylor, America’s first Black architect who was academically trained at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In an awesome stream of familial achievements, his great granddaughter, Valerie Jarrett, is currently a White House Senior Advisor.

Other notables that have graced a Black Heritage stamp include Bessie Coleman, Anna Julia Cooper, and Malcolm X.

Angelou’s stamp will be released later this year. We will surely miss her, but she will live on forever!
