Madonna Responds: It was NOT a Aretha Franklin Tribute

Last night, Madonna stepped out on stage to speak on the late legendary Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin. The only problem is that 90% of her Aretha was about herself.

We can thank MTV for enlisting pop icon Madonna instead of a beautiful montage or a medley of songs performed by other soulful singers. Read on to see what Madge is saying to the backlash she’s received for her self-centered tribute to Aretha Franklin…

Madonna Responds: It was NOT a Aretha Franklin TributeCelebNMusic247.com is NOT shocked to hear people are bashing Madonna, but the whole thing was taken out of context. It was NOT a Tribute.

We watched the VMAs last night and it was funny because we forgot it was a tribute to the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin once Madonna started making it about herself.

Although Madonna‘s story was interesting, there is a time and place for that. The platform was to pay respect to the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin, but fans didn’t get that.

It was more of a paying homage to Madonna’s beginnings, yet she doesn’t see it that way.

Madonna responds that it was NOT a tribute. She was asked by MTV “to share any anecdotes I had in my career connected to Aretha Franklin!”

Madonna responds on social media saying:

I’m with the Winner!! The beautiful @camila_cabello ! So proud of her! ???. And just to clarify: I was asked to present video of the year by MTV! And then they asked me to share any anecdotes I had in my career connected to Aretha Franklin! I shared a part of my journey and thanked Aretha for inspiring me along the way. I did not intend to do a tribute to her! That would be impossible in 2 minutes with all the noise and tinsel of an award show. I could never do her justice in this context or environment.

Unfortunately, most people have short attention spans and are so quick to judge. I love Aretha! R.E.S.P.E.C.T. ??. I Love Camilla! Congrats! I LOVE my dress! AND. I love-L O V E!! ?? and there is nothing anyone can say or do that will change that. #vmas #postivevibes
