(CelebNMusic247) Legendary Comedian Phyllis Diller Dies at 95

Phyllis Diller, a pioneer in the comedic genre, has passed away Monday morning in her Los Angeles home at age 95.

Diller paved the way for today’s female comics, without Phyllis there would be no Joan Rivers, Whoopi GoldbergKathy Griffith, Sara Silverman, Margaret Cho, Rosanne Barr, MoNique and many more.

Joan Rivers, recently appeared on “Watch What Happens Live” and said, Diller “broke the way for every woman comedian.

Diller had recently fallen, hurting her wrist and hip but her rep says the injury had nothing to do with her death.

In 1999, Diller  suffered a heart attack and was later fitted with a pacemaker.

Phyllis Diller’ career began in 1952 as she rose to fame with her TV specials alongside  Bob Hope in the 1960s.

Phyllis went on to star in her own show “The Phyllis Diller Show,” a variety show  called “The Beautiful Phyllis Diller Show” and was a regular on “Laugh In.”

Though, she posed for Playboy back in the 70s, her pics were never published.

Diller spark never went out, she re mained relevant throughout her career. Most recently she appeared in the 2005 movie “The Aristocrats,”  telling an x-rated joke better than comics half her age.

Celebrities react to Phyllis Diller’s death:

Joan Rivers was “beyond saddened” by Diller’s death.

She Tweeted:

We were friends – [daughter] Melissa and I had a wonderful time with her at lunch just a month ago. The only tragedy is that Phyllis Diller was the last from an era that insisted a woman had to look funny in order to be funny.”

Fellow comic Ruth Buzzi, wrote:

“Thank you for what you did for all women in comedy who followed your pat.”

Whoopi Goldberg said:
