K. Michelle is way more than just a reality TV star, she’s a R&B singer worthy of listening too with her debut album Rebellious Soul. – holding her own like Mary J Blige and Keyshia Cole.

Kimberly Michelle Pate was just another line item on Jive Records’ roster. Five years later and with a new home at Atlantic Records, K. Michelle the artist deserves a second look and not because of her reality TV antics.

To recap:

K Michelle made a name for herself on Love and Hip Hop Atlanta last year after opening up about her domestic abuse ordeal she faced with her former love interest Memphitz. K was an up and coming R&B singer trying to make it before she landed a spot on LHHA. Unfortunately, she was in an abusive relationship, which many of Toya Wright’s friends, namely Tamar Braxton and Rasheeda sounded off, claiming K. Michelle was fabricating the situation. Quickly K made a name for herself on the show as a mouthy victim that’s always looking for a fight.

Fast forward to season two of Love and Hip Hop Atlanta and K. Michelle was on damage control, cleaning up her dirty laundry and making amends with Karlie Redd, Mimi Faust, Joseline Hernandez, and Rasheeda.  It was a full 360 for K Michelle who was on a mission to make sure her hot pocket still worked and went as far as have it jeweled, colored and styled with Mimi and Arianne.

Despite her Reality TV jump start, K Michelle has re-birthed her career with songs like her first  single “VSOP,” which is not on her debut album Rebellous Soul.

On Saturday (August, 9th) K. Michelle held her album release party in ATL with former cast-mates Scrappy, The Queen of the “Palace” herself—Mama Dee and Shay. You could miss the blond in the quirky yellow romper with gold cage sandals at Frank Ski’s restaurant

We have to say we haven’t heard a great soulful album since Mary J Blige and Keyshia Cole first coming on the scene with street worthy, truthful R&B that has all that gritty heart-breaks like a soulful R&B album should have.

No disrespect to Alicia Keys, Marsha Ambrosius, Jill Scott or Erykah Badu, because all these women are the true definition of R&B/Soul, but in the realm of Mary J Blige style R&B, K Michelle is dead on the money!

She is proving that she ‘s not a gimic or a reality TV star turned singer – She was trying to make it in the music industry way before Love and Hip Hop Atlanta and with songs like “Damn” “I Don’t Like Myself” “Ride Out” and “Can’t Raise A Man” just to name a few songs of the 11 song debut album – she is truly showing talent. Vocally, K. has range charged with true emotion that drives her music. With every verse the newest R&B singer making waves on the music scene can help you visualize and feel every bit of what she is talking about. K. Michelle has true talent and like Biggie Smalls she got raw talent and is not some manufacture R&B singer that is hot for the duration of a cigarette.

Her debut album Rebellious Soul  offers a pure uncensored account of today’s woman figuring life out at her own pace.  It 100% girl talk, combining all facets of what makes Kimberly Michelle, sensitivity, lusty, compassionate, short-tempered, worrisome, confident, ratchetness.   The Tennessee native compiles a soundtrack for the non cookie-cutter ladies who are still a work in progress and totally okay with that. If you love old Mary J Blige, Keyshia Cole, and early Alicia Keys then K. Michelle’s Rebellous Soul is a MUST have.

The debut album released on August 13th and is remarkable. It is currently available on iTunes and retail stores everywhere.

K. Michelle revealed to the Breakfast Club that she is heading out on tour on her own for the first part of her tour and then on the second leg, she is opening for Keyshia Cole and on the latter part of her tour K is heading out with her mentor.

K Michelle’s that she will be heading out with R. Kelly, which who she loves as an artist and someone to look up to in R&B music. As for her new spin-off, she is currently filming Love and Hip Hop New York and will begin film her show at the end of this month, August.

We wish K. Michelle the best with her new album Rebellious Soul. – Big props mama, we loving it!
