Inked Hearts Tattoo Expo: Cypress Hill "Insane In The Membrane" During Snow Storm

CelebNMusic247.com photographer Chris Brody was there to catch all the highlights from the Humboldt County Hip Hop Festival.

The 10th annual Inked Hearts Tattoo Expo at Blue Lake Casino hosted 35 tattoo artists and other vendors last Thursday through Sunday. Organizers Ted and Amy Marks brought in a familiar line up of tattoo artists to Humboldt County.

The Inked Hearts organizers teamed up with the Blue Lake Casino to offer live music concerts of Sublime with Rome and Cypress Hill in the Blue Lake Pavilion (a large, covered tent) on Friday and Saturday evenings, promising that the shows would go on, “rain or shine.” And indeed a large crowd showed up both nights, even during Saturday’s sleet and snowstorm. Mischief Labs fire sculptures were set up outside the venue keeping everyone entertained and warm.

Opening for Cypress Hill was the incredible Dirty Rats:

Their performance was a group of various crew members performing a set helmed by member Sonny Wong.

Mu Mu Crew, an All female Humboldt County hip hop group:

They started the evening later headlined by Cypress Hill. It was crazy they had break dancers on the side. Their performance was great, the girls gave a great performance & dazzled the crowd.

Woven Roots started the evening later headlined by Sublime With Rome:

Woven Roots original roots Reggae straight from Humboldt County Groovin Dub styles & beats. Complete positive vibes on the stage.

Safety Orange:

The San Diego native Surf/Rock/Reggae gave a great performance. True So Cal music at its best. They opened for Sublime With Rome full rockin’ set, which entertained the audience

Cypress Hill:

Cypress Hill blew everyone away with an energized set of all their hits. The crowd went wild and danced despite the extreme cold. They performed in subzero temperatures while a snowstorm started during the show.

Sublime with Rome:

As always, Sublime with Rome KILLED it with a great show fully energized to the max!! The crowd was excited and Sublime with Rome was a packed house playing their classic hit songs.

The event had between 750-1,000 visitors per day over the course of the expo and the participating tattoo artists are both locally based as well as from outside the region.
