While earlier reports were claiming that Glee star Cory Monteith did NOT die from drugs.

New reports have confirmed Cory Monteith died of “mixed drug toxicity, involving heroin and alcohol,” according to an initial autopsy report conducted by the British Columbia Coroner’s Office.

Here’s the drop according to THR:

Monteith was found dead in his 21st-floor hotel room at the upscale Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver on July 13. Hotel staff discovered his body after he missed his noon checkout time. He was 31.

The investigation into his death by the B.C. Coroners Service is continuing. No additional details were immediately available. Once the investigation is completed, a Coroners Report will be issued.

Autopsy and pharmocology tests were being fast-tracked, given the widespread media attention surrounding Monteith’s sudden death. The Vancouver police similarly Saturday night held an impromptu news conference to get out ahead of the story, and prevent anticipated media speculation surrounding the celebrity’s sudden death in Vancouver to get out of hand.

In March, Monteith voluntarily checked himself into rehab for substance abuse before departing in April. It was the actor’s second trip in rehab; he had previously checked into rehab when he was 19. Production on Glee was not impacted but Monteith was written out of the final two episodes of season four.

Monteith was not shy about his past issues with drugs and substance abuse.
