We got word today that Fresh Kid Ice, co-founder of 2 Live Crew has died in Miami. Chris Wong Won better known as Fresh Kid Ice died Thursday morning in a Miami hospital. His cause of death has NOT been disclosed.

His manager cited an undisclosed medical condition as the cause of his death. No further details were provided.

Fresh Kid Ice formed 2 Live Crew in 1984 with DJ Mr. Mixx and Amazing Vee. The three were later joined by Luther Campbell in 1990. The group burst onto the Miami hip-hop scene in the mid-1980s and were known for their explicit hits and parodies.

Luke Campbell took to Twitter to say goodbye:

“My Condolence goes out to the family Chris Wong Wong Fresh Kid Ice of the 2 Live Crew who just passed away people we lost a legend.”

Another shocker this week was True Blood star Nelsan Ellis, who died from complications from heart failure.

The 39-year-old star, Nelsan Ellis was a shinning star on True Blood, but his family later issued a statement attributing the heart failure to complications of longtime alcohol and drug abuse.

HBO said in a statement via Variety:

“We were extremely saddened to hear of the passing of Nelsan Ellis. Nelsan was a long-time member of the HBO family whose groundbreaking portrayal of Lafayette will be remembered fondly within the overall legacy of ‘True Blood.’ Nelsan will be dearly missed by his fans and all of us at HBO.”

Alan Ball, the creator of “True Blood” and executive producer echoed HBO’s epitaph in a statement of his own:

“Nelsan was a singular talent whose creativity never ceased to amaze me,” said Ball. “Working with him was a privilege.”

News of his death was first noticed by “The Help” costar Octavia Spencer, who broke the news on Instagram last weekend.

 “Just got word that we lost (Nelsan). My heart breaks for his kids and family.”

It was announced today that Nelsan Ellis that his funeral will be open to the public. Ellis funeral will be held on Saturday, July 22 at Holy Temple Cathedral in Harvey, Ill., a suburb south of Chicago.
