The Mob makes its loyalty oath today. The new celebrity competition premieres Monday, Oct. 26 on Hulu, hosted by Parker Posey, and it comes from the team behind The Traitors — which should tell you exactly how much trust anyone in this villa deserves. Episodes drop weekly, per Hulu.

How the Family Business Works

Twelve celebrities move into a lavish Italian villa and take on mob movie-inspired challenges — “jobs” — to build a prize pot of up to $250,000. But the money is not the game. Power is.

Each episode, the family chooses a Don, and the Don gets absolute say over who earns money, who stays and who gets “whacked” — eliminated, in polite non-mob language. Loyalty is the currency, and like any good crime saga, the twist is built in: players can secretly form alliances and pledge themselves to a rival Don, then overthrow the boss in a mob-style battle, per Hulu’s description via Entertainment Now.

“In this family, when we need to make our problems go away, we make sure they really go away,” Posey warns in the trailer. Consider yourselves warned.

A Cast Built to Betray Each Other Beautifully

The family photo alone is a fever dream. Joe Gorga of The Real Housewives of New Jersey brings the reality-TV muscle, joined by Demi Engemann of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Harry Jowsey, Chelsea Lazkani of Selling Sunset, Maria Georgas and Shane Parton from Bachelor Nation, and Willam Belli from RuPaul’s Drag Race.

Then there is the casting wink nobody else could pull off: Aida Turturro, Janice Soprano herself, and Debi Mazar of Goodfellas fame are playing a mob game for real money. Add Dancing With the Stars judge Bruno Tonioli and rapper Romeo, and every corner of celebrity has a seat at the table.

Creators Adam Wood and Mat Steiner of Primal Media told People the Mafia-meets-reality idea was a longtime dream. “As lifelong fans of the mafia genre — ‘The Sopranos’ being the greatest show of all time, obviously — we have always been keen to find a way of opening that world up but in the unscripted space,” they said. Of landing Posey, they added: “The icing on the cake was getting Parker Posey to host, who brings glamour, quirky humor and gravitas.”

Why Traitors Fans Should Clear Their Monday

The Traitors comparison is not marketing fluff — Studio Lambert and Primal Media built this, Posey also serves as an executive producer, and the bones are familiar in the best way: beautiful location, campy host, alliances that rot from the inside. The difference is the Don. In The Mob, power is public, voted on and sitting in a big chair kissing distance from everyone plotting against it — which makes every episode a referendum, not just a roundtable.

The 247 Take — Casting an actual Soprano and a Goodfellas alum in a game about fake mob loyalty is genius, and Joe Gorga declaring “this is war” in the trailer is the most on-brand sentence of the fall. The Mob understands the assignment: give reality stars absolute power, then film what it costs them.
