(CelebNMusic247) ’Phunny Business’ Chronicles Chicago’s Famed All Jokes Aside

For a decade, Chicago?s ALL JOKES ASIDE was the premiere Black Comedy Club in the country giving early exposure to most of the important young comedians of today.

All Jokes Aside showcased or introduced nearly every black comic, male and female, who would go on to huge careers.

Comedian’s like; Bill Bellamy, Cedric the Entertainer, Deon Cole, Earthquake, Mike Epps, Adele Givens, Steve Harvey, D.L. Hughley,  Carlos Mencia, Craig Robinson, JB Smoove, Sheryl Underwood and George Wallace to name a few all got their start there.

The venue often sold out  three times a night. After the rent doubled and the South Loop became gentrified, Lambert closed All Jokes Aside and invested $1 million in a new All Jokes Aside in the city’s entertainment district a mile north.

Now, using a mix of stand up and interviews with the comedians who performed there, Phunny Business: A Black Comedy chronicles the rise and fall of ALL JOKES ASIDE.

It’s an inside look into the world of black comedians  behind the scenes.

Phunny Business: A Black Comedy also takes an in-depth look at the man behind it all and salutes the legendary showcase for its contribution to comedy history.

All Jokes Aside was Chicago’s first black-owned comedy club, which was the subject of the documentary “Phunny Business: A Black Comedy,” shown atvthe opening night of the 14th annual Roger Ebert’s Film Festival.

Indican Pictures release ‘Phunny Business’, is a stylized, fast-paced documentary that mimics the atmosphere and feel of a comedy club.

The comedic Docu-chronicle has already attained awards at Friars Club Comedy Film Festival and the Christopher Wetzel Award for Independent Film Comedy.

The Docu-chronicle was well received at the Festival and is heading to DVD on October 2nd, 2012.
