De La Soul Makes Bank On Kickstarter!!!

De La Soul Makes Bank On Kickstarter, because Hip Hop fans know great hip hop and when it comes to De La Soul it is no wonder that they just cashed in big time!

CelebNMusic247.com caught wind that De La Soul started a Kickstarter campaign to fund their new album and man did they ever get the funding.

Here is the drop via PigeonsandPlanes:

The Long Island trio (Vincent Mason, Kelvin Mercer and David Jude Jolicoeur) aimed to raise $110,000 and actually raised $180,974 within 24 hours of the launch of the campaign.

On March 30, 2015, the rap group created a Kickstarter to fund the creation of their eighth album with a target of $110,000. Today, May 2, the Kickstarter closed with 11,169 backers having pledged $600,875. This makes them the second most funded music project on the platform.

In addition to appearances from Damon Albarn of Gorillaz and 2 Chainz, the album will feature original samples from scores of studio musician freestyle jam sessions recorded by De La Soul and their production team.

They wrote on the Kickstarter page:

“With over 200 hours of sounds, and vibes, equal to about 250 to 300 full-length vinyl LPs, it’s time that we get to the work,”

“We are now in the process of going back to that 200+ hours of music, listening, enjoying and discovering those special moments where, musically, something magical happens, where interesting sounds and layers were forgotten, where new sounds can be sampled, looped, chopped, filtered and arranged, freely, without the intrusive presence of publishing politics and the infamous ‘sample police.'”
