‘Bourne’ & ‘Ted’ sequels Green Lit by Universal
In case you feel like you didn’t get enough of the hilarity in the hit film Ted, by Seth Myers [the creator of Family Guy and American Dad] or if you were desperately hoping that there was another 1 to 2 more installments to the Bourne Legacy, well your wishes have been answered.
Universal has confirmed that Ted and Bourne will be going back in to production.
And think Mark Wahlberg almost passed on the flick because it was about a Teddy Bear that comes to life. Good thing he signed on to the hit, because he has a franchise on his hands. The studio wants to begin work on Ted 2 ”as soon as we can.”
Since Burke highlighted the importance of ”franchises and animation” during a speech at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch 2012 Media, Communications and Entertainment conference in Los Angeles.
On the animation front, the studio plans to release a film every 18 months, with the intention eventually of putting out two such movies a year. Burke particularly praised the success of Despicable Me, which has a sequel and a ‘minions’ spinoff in the works.
While Bourne fans can look forward to another fifth sequel in the franchise made famous by Matt Damon. A follow-up to the fourth Bourne movie, which introduced new star Jeremy Renner, has already been teased.
