BMG Rep Says Radio Not ‘Sleeeping’ on Janet’s New Single!!!

After entertainment columnist Roger Friedman claimed Janet Jackson’s new single “No Sleeep” is not keeping anyone awake, BMG Rep Says Radio Not ‘Sleeeping’ on Janet’s New Single.

Don’t get it twisted!

Despite  Friedman claims that “No Sleeep” hasn’t crossed over into pop, and hasn’t caught fire at R&B stations, a BMG Rep weighs in to set the record straight about Janet’s new single.

One of our readers brought this article to our attention the Roger Friedman’s article which states that Janet’s “No Sleeep” is “extremely quiet for a summer song, and doesn’t have much of a hook. It’s just sort of a riff.”

In the article which was posted on EUR claims Friedman’s article says that the song hasn’t been receiving much love from radio stations.

Shortly after the post hit the Internet a representative of BMG Rights Management reached out to set the record straight with some facts in regards to key points in Friedman’s article. The BMG rep (who spoke on condition of anonymity) simply wants BMG’s side of the story to be heard.

CelebNMusic247.com has this report:

According to the BMG Rep, Janet’s single is still climbing.

The rep says:

“Sixty-five out of the possible 69 stations on the Urban AC media based panel have already added the record [No Sleeep].”

If that statement holds true, the new single is in rotation at more the 95 percent of radio stations.

The BMG rep adds:

“She is currently #6 on the chart in third week of release as of today on published media-base panel for the Urban AC.”

“As far as Urban Mainstream, in her third week she charted #35 on the official chart.”

This information is from the same source that Friedman referenced, which you can see below:

Roger Friedman states:

“The stations that are playing it are all in B markets. So far, “No Sleeep” has had little luck in New York or Los Angeles, where singles are broken.”

The BMG Rep states that on “LA’s KJLH it was the number one most spun record last week and remains in the top three.”

As far as New York is concerned on “WBLS it’s number 11” and “moving up the chart.”

The BMG Rep even mentioned other majors cities including WDAS in Philly and VAZ in Chicago where BMG Rep says the single is in the top 10 and #6 respectively.

On iTunes, “No Sleeep” hasn’t cracked the top 150 singles. It is ranked at #70 for top pop songs of 2015 overall.” – Roger Friedman

“The single has sold six thousand units in two weeks. Those are the fact,” The BMG Rep states sticking strictly to facts and nothing else. The Rep also mentioned its debut at #9 on the Billboard Hot R&B Songs chart and #6 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Songs chart.

The BMG Rep wants to make clear that the company doesn’t want the truth to get lost in a story. According to the rep, the song is doing well and meeting its goal on the Urban AC charts as that is priority for this particular single in this day and age.

“The metrics are what they are. At this format in 2015 an R&B record could be Top 10 in two weeks and nearing #5 after three [weeks], that’s positive.”

The BMG Rep is in no way a spokesman for Janet Jackson or her record label Rhythm Nation. BMG Rights Management is in collaboration with Janet Jackson and Rhythm Nation to distribute her new CD.
