Avengers Age of Ultron Introduces The Vision!

Disney and The Marvel Cinematic Universe will have fans bugging since the new Avengers Age of Ultron Introduces The Vision!

According to reports, Paul Bettany Will Play The Vision in the upcoming Avengers sequel.   The British actor has played coy in the past about reprising the role of Tony Stark‘s A.I. “Jarvis” in Joss Whedon’s Avengers sequel, but it seems that’s because he was returning in a different role: fan-favorite android The Vision!

They go on to say that “Make-up experts were using various powders and potions on Bettany’s pale skin to bring about the Vision’s chalk-white complexion.” Now I’m sure any Avengers comic fan will know that the character’s face is usually red..but, The Vision was depicted early on as being completely “chalk white”, fitting the above description. Incidentally, the working title for the Marvel sequel is apparently “After Party”, but the Mail is pretty sure that will change now that the info is out there

Who is The Vision?

Well CelebNMusic247.com has the dish on the new Avengers Age of Ultron inductee via Collider:

If you can say anything about Avengers: Age of Ultron, it’s that it’s certainly not lacking for new characters. While the film introduces the menacing Ultron to the world of the Avengers and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we’re also getting three new additions to the MCU in the forms of Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, and today’s topic, the Vision. The Vision, much like Ultron, is a robot, but unlike the big bad of the sequel, he ends up on the side of angels, working alongside the Avengers to put a stop to Ultron’s nefarious schemes of wiping out humanity. Who is this ghostly hero, what are his abilities, and how will he be changed for the movies from his comic book origin? Hit the jump for a breakdown of one of the newest additions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Vision, like many other Avengers, started his career as a villain. Originally created by Ultron as a means to destroy the team, the Vision eventually has a change of heart and decides to join the team, realizing that a world inhabited by robots would be lame and boring. He was actually created by using a deceased member of the team’s brainwaves, Wonder Man (don’t worry he gets better, this is comic books), and implanting them into the android which is in effect his Jiminy Cricket, pointing him the right direction. The Vision is also swayed by the Scarlet Witch, and the two start a relationship and even have kids! The kids are in fact revealed to be a bi-product of the Scarlet Witch’s powers and actually become the hands – yes the hands – of a supervillain named Master Pandemonium in what has to be one of the weirdest and most grotesque comic book stories of all time. But hey, comic books.

Moreso than perhaps Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor, the Vision has been with the Avengers through thick and thin. He’s never really been popular enough to warrant an ongoing comic book series of his own (he’s an emotionless android after all, so it’s a tad difficult to make that too compelling) but he’s always been a stalwart of the team. What Martian Manhunter is to the Justice League, the Vision is to the Avengers….oh wait, Manhunter isn’t going to be in the new DC movies is he? I guess the Vision is like their Cyborg, yeah that’s the ticket. For the most part, he’s had the classic red, yellow, and green appearance, though there was a time when he was completely ghostly white and had the brainwaves of the original World War 2 Human Torch implanted in his mind. There was a time when the Vision was thought dead, brought back as teenager and joined the Young Avengers, but he got better and has joined the Avengers once again in the current timeline after Tony Stark rejiggered a few bits and pieces. I don’t expect we’ll ever see a solo film at any point in time, but his appearance and his power set are pretty snazzy all things considered.

The Vision has a TON of powers. His most notable power is his ability to change his density to whatever he wants. He can become intangible (think Kitty Pryde from the X-Men franchise) or make himself hard as steel to punch villains through walls or open really difficult pickle jars. This makes for some cool scenes where the Vision will sneak up behind someone, move his intangible hand through their body and threaten to make it hard (get your mind out of the gutter) should they not surrender immediately. He also has enhanced strength, speed, the power of flight and reflexes as if he were bitten by a radioactive robot!

The friendly android also has a solar gem on his forehead which helps to power his mechanized body (no food for this guy) and fire off solar blasts out of it akin to Cyclops’ eye beams. Obviously, since he’s a machine, he also can hack into nearly any system.
