Exclusive Interview: Alice Braga who reveals why  the role of Frey, a strong Latin woman, was the driving force that  drew her to role in Elysium

Alice Braga stars in the new Neil Blomkamp‘s sci0fi social thriller Elysium where she plays a nurse who struggles to survive, work and live in the poverty stricken 2154. Braga tells us that she was immediately drawn to the role of Frey because she felt that her character represented Latino women in a strong light. Frey is a single mother living in hard times. She is independent, strong and no matter how hard life gets Frey will NOT let anything get her down or in her way.

Alice Braga plays the love interest opposite Matt Damon (Max), a fellow former foster child she grew up with and had a bond to be together for life. Max (Damon) never fell out of live with Frey (Braga) but she moved on and trained to be a nurse and get her life together. The two reunite after Max is brutally searched by futuristic android police. The break his forearm where Frey runs into Max after many years. Alice Braga tells us that working Matt was a true pleasure, she admits that she learned a lot from him while filming the movie. However, she was over joyed to work with District 9 director Neil Blomkamp, admitting that she is a huge fan of his work. She loves his take on social impact and how the film touches on many important issues and blends them into a sci-fi thread that is a woven masterpiece.
