Three episodes into Season 8, the season’s thesis is fully formed: every American in this cast moved across the world for a relationship that is not what it appeared to be — and Episode 3 is where the gap stops being theoretical.
Andi and Nigel: the other lovers are real
The episode’s centerpiece belongs to Andi, the Nashville artist who relocated to Australia for Nigel. And Jon goes head-to-head with Ally’s best friend, as the couple at the center of the season’s surprise pregnancy — Jonathan gave up his career to relocate for Ally — runs into the reality that her people are not sold.
Next up: Episode 4, “Schnapps on the Rocks,” airs Sunday, October 25 — and per TLC’s listings, it brings Niles news that his marriage to Matilda may be annulled, while Vittorio humiliates Jessy in front of his friends.
The 247 Take — The Other Way works when it stops being about romance and starts being about information: who knew what, when, and what they chose not to say. Episode 3 is a masterclass in the gap. Andi’s storyline is the sharpest version — there is a difference between agreeing to a partner’s lifestyle and discovering its terms after you have moved your life into his house.
